Sexy Chick - Chris Sanders Style

Hey everybody!! This one is for the boys! Funny story this week I was using an artist named Chris Sanders as reference at work for a character I was working on, a friend of mine saw my browser and asked "why you looking at porn?" haha.
For those of you who don't know, Chris Sanders is a big name in the animation/art community. He worked at disney for a number of years, influencing the style of characters and backgrounds most notably if you havent guessed Lilo & Stitch. His personal work consists of sexy ladies and its really awesome. That's why i had to explain im not referencing porn, its the artist style i was referencing.  So i wanted to try a drawing to emulate that style. It was definitely harder to execute than i thought. i should do more of these because i need practice drawing the female form, and im sure i could totally sell these sexy drawings to horny fanboys at conventions hahaha. ENJOY!

Heres the inital sketch. Chris Sanders always draws a cute animal with his sexy ladies so i thought to myself because this is a homage to this mans work and style im going to draw stitch in. i was so frustrated after i made this sketch because i felt like something was wrong. Like it looked so terrible and i couldnt put my finger on it. even getting the face right i was upset because it didn't turn out the way i wanted it to. the drawing was very stiff and vertical, it was just not there.

So i actually drew over the drawing multiple times. My figure drawing professor would be so happy. I drew boxes and cylinders in jts to figure out the anatomy. One thing i realized is that Sanders has such a strong understanding of anatomy that he's able to make a females legs and hips look big while keeping the drawing look appealing and cute. I almost opened my anatomy book to just understand where I could push the figure more.

after i got a better understanding of her weight and anatomy i started the cleanup line drawing. looks cool. 

Mini Marvels #1

In honor of the San Diego Comic Con this week (which i wish i was there :(   ) I decided to start what I hope becomes a series of drawings. I was inspired by an artist on FB who's cute characters made me wish I came up with it first. But because this blog is all about me trying different things to find my "style" I decided to do this. Check her stuff out. Just search Pocket Princesses on Facebook you'll fall in love imediately.

But because this blog is about my art here issue NUMBER 1 of Mini Marvels. Couldn't decide what would be the first one I did so I did a homage to one of the craziest fights in comic book history. For those of you who don't know, wolverine almost lost his life to Magneto after magneto sucked all the adimantium from his bones right through his pores. Ouch... and I thought sweating the alchohol from hangovers was bad hehehe. Hope you like it. And I hope to do more soon. 

Quick Warrior sketch

OMG ridiculous weekend..... im surprised i could get any kind of sketch done. but luckily i did this and it actually turned out cool. maybe ill take it to a finish or full color at some point. kind of looks like a kool monochromatic card

Fun with vehicles

Whew busy week. im hoping i can do more painting the next few weeks but i know with weddings, babyshowers, birthdays coming up its going to be tough, but heres some vehicle sketches. ive been watching a lot of feng zhu's stuff lately and this is a technique he does with markers and a pen. i had a lot of fun just scribbling shapes then trying to come up with a vehicle with those shapes. i included the initial scribbles on this post so you can see how i started the sketch. it was kind of a soothing process to just draw and let the drawing come to its own without much thought

maybe this week ill take one of them into a finished piece. which one do you like out of these guys?

X-BOX ONE vs PS4

Alrighty, I've been totally engulfed with the E3 hooplah all week. Some awesome games are coming out and I'm mostly excited for metal gear, and actually a great deal of games for the wii u. But since the console wars are going to start it a few months and this was the biggest topic, that song totally just crushed microsoft at E3 but this is what its really going to boil down to. Say all you want with what microsoft is doing which in my opinion is definitely ridiculous and arrogant (and thats just me speaking as a consumer) If you dont know what microsoft is doing definitely look into it yourself because it's appalling to the console gaming industry as we know it. But what this war is really going to come down to, is which games are you going to be wanting to play the most. So here is a piece Halo (fighting for Xbox which will be exclusively for xbox systems) vs drake from uncharted which is only playable on the ps4. (Granted im very sure master chief would win in a fight, but if it's any indication of what sony did this past week, master chief will get buried come the holiday season)

Himura Kenshin! BATTOSAI

Alrighty so I wanted to do a piece right before fanime for my homage to anime... but then I just recently watched the live action Kenshin Movie. For those of you who watched this anime, it was the first anime I watched (not including pokemon of course :D), and it is one bad ass anime. So when I saw that they created a live action Kenshin movie I was intrigued.
 I must admit, animes to live action films can definitely end up seeming campy or ridiculous because it's hard to translate animation into live action, but this anime I can say was done EXTREMELY WELL. Told multiple stories in a 2 hour time. I definitely recommend it to anyone who's seen the anime or if you havent, definitely check this one out if you love action flicks with a little character development in it. But here are the basic main characters in that movie with the main villain right in the middle. DOPE

Cyclops

Ahhh what a ridiculous week and a half. ive been so busy that i missed last week. but heres this week sketch. went back to the x men drawings and here is leader of the x men CYCLOPS. i feel like ive been drawing a lot of heroes. a baddy must be drawn next.
